Why Engineering?
"Engineers have a collective responsibility to improve the lives of people around the world."
Every year, the world produces a million engineering graduates and the number has steadily increased in the last decade. India alone has 3345 dedicated Engineering Colleges - the rapid growth of which can be attributed to our ecosystem. Close to 1.5 million engineers from India graduate every year, which is more than the total number of engineers produced by China and USA combined together!
But naturally, the question that comes to our mind is do we need so many engineers? “YES”.
The world needs plenty of "well-equipped, talented engineering graduates with the right attitude and innovative minds, since we need skills today which were not even imagined ten years ago. According to United Nations, "The next two decades will see an addition of two billion people who will create an extraordinary demand-for energy, to telecommunication, and infrastructure. The role of engineers will be critical in fulfilling those demands at various scales."
Now, are we ready with these type engineers? The answer is NO.
